GiveNow Week 2010

The Good Guys celebrate GiveNow Week 2010

Shoppers around Australia are being encouraged to make a difference to their local community in the lead up to Christmas with GiveNow Week set to take place from 29 November – 5 December 2010.

Held annually, GiveNow Week is an initiative of the Our Community Foundation and aims to encourage individuals, families, businesses and groups to give back to their communities in true Christmas spirit.

Electrical retailer, The Good Guys is calling upon their Christmas shoppers to get behind the GiveNow effort by supporting the store’s Local Giving Program which sees funds returned to the community in which the store operates in.

Denis Moriarty, Group Managing Director of the Our Community Foundation, said “It’s great to have The Good Guys on board promoting GiveNow Week. We need to remember though, that providing better support for our communities isn’t just exclusive to the business community or the Christmas season – there are many ways for individuals and families to give back to their local area all year long.”

Denis suggests that Christmas Giving is easy, “Giving doesn’t need to be difficult, things as simple as giving clothes and food to local charities, volunteering your time, becoming an organ donor or even adopting a pet are great examples of good Christmas giving.”

The Good Guys Local Giving Program is run by The Good Guys Foundation, which sees a percentage from every transaction made in store and online donated back to local community organisations. Customers are invited to have their say by voting for their preferred charity each time they made a purchase in store.
